Sex - Basic Aspects of Human Sexuality

Man: A bio-psycho-social animal

Looking at the multidimensional, broad spectrum of human sexuality, one realizes that it is extremely difficult, if not impossible, to draw sharp distinctions between inherited traits (biological sex) and acquired habits (psychosocial sex). Certainly, both nature and nurture play a role, but exactly how large a role each of them plays is often difficult to determine. Only one thing is certain: A better understanding of human sexuality requires the combined efforts of the natural and cultural sciences. Sexology, as an interdisciplinary enterprise, attempts to provide just that. It studies women and men as bio-psycho-social creatures.
