Critical
Introduction - The Meaning of Sexual
Health
|
What
is Sexual Health?
|
Example:
Intersexuality
|
A
present example is the pressure being
exerted by the ever better organized
women and men with physical problems
related to sex. For example, many
intersexual individuals and groups now
use the internet to educate not only
themselves and the general public, but
also the medical profession about their
rights and interests. At the same time,
they question many established medical
procedures. Among other things, this
will also lead to yet another revision
of the professional terminology. It is
an area where medicine lags behind
actual developments. In the past, many
of the now well-organized individuals
were considered patients as a matter of
course. Today, many of them reject this
label and refuse to play the patient
role. (See also “Intersexuality”.)
